Have you ever observed a sunset over the sea? If you have, you would recall perhaps blank thoughts in a breathtaking moment slipping within minutes. In our personal perception, this is exactly what the BCBG Max Azria Fall/Winter 2015 collection made our recollection travel to--a meeting place between the sky and the sea, where an array of hues in the likes of blue, burnt orange, reds, grey steeped into the darkness of the night.
Our memory recollection might not be too far from that of the inspiration behind BCBG Max Azria's Fall/Winter 2015, the dynamic couple duo, Max & Lubov Azria, were inspired through their travels to the Baltic Sea. Perhaps, they too also saw a sunset, but the certain is that they brought back a cultural splendor. Just as the sun and sea meet, the Baltic Sea has been a joining place for states such as Finland, Sweden, Russia and Denmark among some. Aside being one of the largest bodies of brackish water, it was also a recognized trading place in the Medieval times. A time where clothing indeed was a means of communication--only the wealthy could dress fashionably and levels of social status were voiced through these means. This brings our eye to the traits on some of the collection's pieces such as the lace-ups, the tunic dress-like designs, the use of lace, decorative stitching in some of the dresses and leather work in the boots--all which puts our minds in that period of time.
The collection itself is a meeting place of knit, leather, fur and quilted patterns and its free-spirited reserved aura as BCBG tends to be is set in more than one of its pieces. We in particular enjoy the funnel knit neck pieces, which are separates and you can imagine its continuous versatile use. The slit knit poncho and what seems to be a caplet knit sweater are of interest too for those cool West coast Fall/Winter nights. But, just as intermissions between many nights and days, the Baltic Sea has witnessed, the BCBG Max Azria Fall/Winter 2015 collection surrenders into the layering evening hours hues seen in tall leather black boots and quilted coats with affirming cultural highlights of color alike a sunset at its last breath.
