New York Fashion Week has come and ended, but left us with lots of style inspiration and makeup tips. This season Aveda took us backstage for the Hellessy show and we got to experience backstage magic. If you didn't follow along on our Snapchat or Instagram stories, allow me to give you a bit of atmosphere visual. Upon walking in to the Highline Studios from freezing weather, the energy of readiness was felt all around. Models were all seated, salon style in this open white space with high ceilings. Some were getting their hair done, others their makeup and some both--model life! After making our way around and watching the glam happen, I went ahead and chatted with one of the makeup artists working on a model. At that moment she was working on the eyes and explained the broken eyeliner look for the woman who sometimes has to break the rules(raises hand!). She also told us about the inspiration of the overall makeup look: natural contours. To achieve this natural dewy look, skin preparation is key and face oils go a long way for that and also help prevent makeup cracks around the face. Aveda's Makeup Artist, Janell Geason, states that before applying makeup, they prepared the face with Aveda's Tulasara Radiant Oleation Oil. She adds on that "It helps preserve skin's natural moisturizer barrier which is ideal for the runway as well as real life." To more naturally contour and illuminate the cheekbones, they used the Aveda Petal Essence Face Accents in Seychelles Sand(infused with aromatic floral notes), and to give the lips a warm peachy look, Aveda used their Nourish-Mint Smoothing Lip Color in Coral Sands(with certified organic peppermint and vanilla aroma).
