6/26/2015 Comments Style Talk With Sanae ChakrouniIndeed, the way we dress is a form of communication that tangibly states a part of us. Upon coming across Sanae of Moroccan and Dutch heritage, we were automatically inspired by the minimalist yet fresh blend of culture and faith that she plays at different modest scenes in her outfits, but there was something more about her that was intriguing us. We loved the communicated message she spoke through her choices of clothing that hinted us about who she was inside and knew we had to have a modest style talk with her! Who is this woman whose inner personality strength is transcending though her outfits? Aside her captivating modest fashion style sense, her free-spirited attitude, Sanae believes fashion and style are unique to each individual. To her, it means wearing what suits and makes her feel and look good! It's not necessarily following the latest trends, she believes it's more about being creative with different styles to show how diverse fashion can be. "I use exactly that to express and portrait myself" Words You Live By There are many words I live by and give me inspiration. One of the most beautiful mind and person I adore and inspires me is Mother Theresa. She believes in a lot of things I can relate to such as; ‘People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway’. Most Memorable Moment My most memorable moment in life is when my dad unexpectedly past away. It immediately changed my life as well as who I was. It made me realize about the value of life and to make sure that I work hard and try to make my dreams come true because tomorrow isn’t promised. After experiencing the loss of a father I realized that everything happens for a reason, you might not understand it right away but eventually you will find peace and acceptance. Because I was confronted with death so suddenly, it opened my eyes and made me realize that I couldn’t be in this state of mind if it wasn’t for my religion, Islam is my hope, my number one, my everything. Oldest Closet Piece The oldest piece in my closet are the shoes my mother wore at her wedding. This means a lot to me and not only because of their history but also because I love vintage and love to combine vintage with modern looks. Empowering Woman In Your Life The woman I truly admire is hands down my mother. Even though she suffered the loss of her husband and the father of her four children, she still maintained a strong woman and raised us all by herself. It’s probably one of the hardest jobs to do, but with God, our faith and the support of each other she did a great job. It’s because of that combination we’re in a happy place now as a family. Even though my mom is on number one, there are a great deal women I admire in the world. One of those women is Oprah, it might sound a bit cliché but seeing what she has done for people around the world and what kind of inspiration and wisdom she spreads is just amazing. One quote I love of her is; ‘I don't think you ever stop giving. I really don't. I think it's an on-going process. And it's not just about being able to write a check. It's being able to touch somebody's life’. Trend You're Into I love spring/fall collections. The jackets are oversized, the collars are big, a bit of a manly look, with hardly any fit and they come in different lengths and material. When it comes to clothing, this is something I love, but besides this I don’t really follow any specific trends. I don’t tend to follow the trends just because they are popular at the moment. I have my own style, which I combine with different items from cheap to expensive brands. Style isn’t made by the price tag on items but by the way it makes you feel, that’s why I try to mix different kind of styles to create my own which I feel very comfortable in. Not Without This Thing In Your Beauty Regimen My MAC bb cream. This bb cream gives me just the amount of color and smoothness without looking heavy on the skin. I love to use make-up that looks natural on the skin. Signature Clothing Piece Skirts. I love skirts, especially the Audrey Hepburn kind of skirts. Broken Fashion Rule I was never really into boyfriend jeans until I tried them on once and it was from that moment on that I was addicted to them. They are not flattering at all, but they fit amazing and are so comfortable. I try to style them with a blazer and heels or sneakers in order to be comfortable AND fashionable at the same time. One Way To Keep A Positive Mind When it comes to keeping a positive mind, I have to refer to the Islam again. It all starts with God! A person who has good thoughts thinks favourable about God, because everything comes into existence through the creation of God, the merciful. We must realise that none of us is entirely good or entirely bad so it is not for us to focus on the bad side and be cynical about it. Rather it is for us to look at the good in others and have good opinion about them and always expect good and positive things from them. Get inspired by Sanae's modest style!
