Literally, they are 'the bomb'! If you're a 90's child, you get this expression. For those who are not, it's the vintage word for 'snatched'. So, now about these jackets that are becoming a hot item among celebrities and that have a mystical story behind them.
We're on the doorsteps of New York Fashion Week as we headed-out on a chilly night to see the Philip Ayler Fall/Winter 2017 presentation at the shop What Comes Around Goes Around in Soho. We were told to arrive early because the house will be packed, and it was! It took a minute to make our way to the jackets, all which were made from vintage Chanel fabric scraps and may we mention surrounded by vintage Chanel jewelry and handbags too. The brand is based in Los Angeles and has taken up the task to hand-make the perfect bomber jacket from luxury vintage fabric scraps bought off at mills in the U.S. and Europe. The limited-edition jackets are designed and constructed in L.A. Talk about the new green of luxury!
If you're not into premonitions, the back story for Philip Ayler, might change that. What started as a dream--literally made come true the next day(I know, can we get some of that too?) is now a rapidly growing brand. The founder and creative, Ayler Young states, he had a dream of traveling the world in a burgundy bomber jacket and woke up to a friend bringing him a gift the next morning. You guessed it! It was a burgundy bomber jacket. How's that for a sharp intuition?
