Malibu Beach Basics Back To Basics Top | Mixology
It's Summer, blazing hot, and in need of long-sleeve shirts. Where are you to find some? Also, maybe you intended and probably did stock-up in Winter, but came to the realization that they really don't work for this heat because high likely they're made out of fabric that repels moisture creating a sweat pool and trapping heat--ouch and eww! Well, the good news is I can help you with one aspect--where to find appropriate long-sleeve shirts that will not only fulfill your cover-up needs, but aid against the heat. Ok, maybe I can help you with two.
It all starts with choosing the right type of fabric. One good go-to Summer fabric option for outwear use is Modal. It is soft to the skin, breathable, more absorbent than cotton, releases moisture faster than cotton, and won't hold as much body heat and odors. In addition, it is easy to care for and maintains good color throughout its lifetime. What else can we ask from a basic top? Seriously. Now, if you want a little stretch in your shirt, be sure the elasticity is at less than 10% so as not to loose the properties of the modal fabric. If you want a lighter and even softer shirt, aim for micro modal. You will also find modal mixed with other natural and synthetic fibers. The result of combination depends on the properties of the combined fibers. For example, for a more softer cotton shirt that will shrink less, modal is mixed with cotton. Below are a few options and sources as to where to find long-sleeve shirts worthy for Summer and its heat. What's your go-to Summer fabric?
